Sleep tight, Charlie

Today was a profoundly sad day for all of us at Harbour. Our hearts go out to Andy and Adele Igoe and their beautiful family, who have tragically lost their son, brother, uncle, a truly inspirational young man taken far too soon.

We are all deeply affected by this loss and cannot begin to imagine what the family are going through; we wish them condolences and love during this difficult time.

Adele was one of the founding members of Harbour, and her husband, Andy, also joined as a support worker in our St Austell projects. Their dedication to helping others has always been an inspiration to us all, and Charlie followed in their footsteps.

Charlie grew up working with vulnerable individuals through his parents’ roles. When he was old enough, he used his natural theatrical skills to help clients build their self-esteem through various volunteering activities that he ran. His kindness and compassion touched many lives, and his legacy will continue to inspire us.

Sometimes in life, we say too much, and sometimes we do not say enough. What we can and will say is, Charlie, you were a star.

Charlie worked for Harbour as a volunteer for many years and was well loved by the clients and staff, as nothing was too much trouble for Charlie.

As well as being a huge part of life at Harbour, Charlie worked with Man Down UK, which is a charity founded in Cornwall, dedicated to supporting men with mental health challenges.

He was also involved with Pentreath, a charity that supports people recovering from mental ill health to have happy and productive lives and was even looking into employment possibilities for the near future, as they were such a massive part of Charlie’s recovery.

Many of the 2-Chapters of Man Down attended to celebrate the life of Charlie, along with Family and Friends.

The value of both was phenomenal and important to his recovery!

Despite the terrible weather, the memories and celebration of Charlie’s life will remain undiminished. We were honoured that the family allowed Charlie’s final journey to pass Cosgarne Hall, a project close to all their hearts, and we had the chance to pay tribute and say goodbye.
