Cornwall ignites: a passion for the arts, a place where poetry is born, through words and lens.
It has inspired many creatives to put pen to paper, stirring significant works of poetry for centuries, from Poets Sir John Betjeman, Charles Causley, Thomas Hardy, Rev Stephen Hawker and many more.
Cornwall has a landscape that is rich in history, peppered with ancient relics and folklore tales. Surrounded by an idyllic coastline with areas of natural beauty.
There is also another side of Cornwall, hidden within its pockets, where life is raw and real, where the beauty of humanity breathes without being on show – This is life at Harbour Housing.
For World Poetry Day, the residents hosted a celebration of words. Creating a Poetry exhibition from their thoughts of the present day and their past, laying bare an insight into their journey and where they want to be.
These words were empowering, brave and beautiful. They were from the heart and shared within the safe space within our Harbour communities.
Exhibited to bring together stories and for voices to be heard. A place where there are no judgements but an understanding of the importance of words.
