Operations Director
Malcolm started his working life in construction undertaking an indentured apprenticeship in North Yorkshire.
After passing his city and guilds and working on Measured Term Contracts, he decided he would prefer to move into management and went back to Leeds University to gain an HND in Construction.
Following on from a successful career in Construction he moved into Project management working for various national consultants ,such as WS Atkins, Taylor Woodrow, Balfour Beatty before working for the Defence Housing Executive Railtrack Education and PFI projects.
From this it seemed a natural progression when moving to Cornwall to transfer into Social Housing as at that time there was a huge demand for Social Housing in the South West.
Malcolm worked for Sanctuary Housing in various formats, from PFI Projects in Student Accommodation, Care Homes, General Needs Housing to Technical Manager for the South West on Reactive and Planned Asset Management, setting up the first in house facility management team for Sanctuary in the South West
Having decided to take a break from social housing, Malcolm went back into Consultancy, working for a South West Project management and Construction consultants, Taylor Lewis, mainly on Social Housing Development Programmes, until returning back into mainstream supported housing in the management team here at Cosgarne.
Recently Malcolm has been working with the Board to diversify into other schemes which fall within our charitable status.
Malcolm is now Operations and Asset Director for both Cosgarne Hall and its subsidiary company Harbour Housing South West.
Malcolm states “Of all the positions I have held, this is one of the most diverse yet rewarding ones I have been lucky enough to be associated with. The staff are dynamic and deliver a first class service to vulnerable, homeless, single persons in Cornwall”.
