The Glastonbury Festival is a five-day event of contemporary performing arts held near Pilton in Somerset, UK. Founded by local farmer and site owner, Michael Eavis in 1970 and now co-organised with his daughter Emily.
This was an exciting trip for Harbour, as it was our first visit to the festival to hold our information marquee. We had a fantastic time meeting people from a diverse range of backgrounds, sharing stories and spreading awareness about supported accommodation, mental health, and how homelessness is affecting people within Cornwall.
Studies have shown that music and the arts have a powerful effect on mental health and can help with emotional awareness, social attachment and interpersonal relating. The festival was a great way to connect with others who also have a passion for the values we at Harbour uphold. We received some interesting feedback and donations that we are always grateful for, no matter how big or small. Tents and camping gear were collected afterwards in our big Clean Up and were donated to people experiencing homelessness.
